Abstract

Empowerment of women through the establishment of business groups is one of the efforts to improve their special skills and expertise possessed by housewives in Manukaya Village. Women's empowerment through knitting group SMEs in Manukaya Tourism Village, Tampak Siring District, Gianyar Regency is expected to help the local community's economy. One of the characteristics of housewives who live in Manukaya Tourism Village is making handicrafts, namely knitting which is passed down from generation to generation. Like knitting, which is now developing, has a high economic value such as bags, clothing and other products. This study aims to examine women's empowerment in an effort to support the development of home industry SMEs that can improve the family economy. The relevant research approach used in this study is a qualitative research. Data were collected through observation, interviews and documentation. The results showed that the work of knitting housewives in Manukaya Village produced various kinds of products, one of them is knitbags. The majority of the people in Manukaya Village, especially women, have knitting skills of various ages, including children, adults, to the elderly. This study concludes that the empowerment efforts can be divided into 3 (three) indicators are enabling, empowering, and protecting the community.
