Abstract

Taro tourism village in Gianyar Regency is well known for the sacred white oxen but it has others attraction for visitor to enjoy such as Semara Ratih garden, firefly garden and a large temple surrounding by dense trees. It would be mesmerize when tourist entering Gunung Raung Temple which is located in the central of the village as holy place to memorize the site of Maharsi Markandya in spreading Hindus principles around Bali many centuries ago. The journey start from his site in Gunung Raung East Java to Bali accompanied by his men which then settled there in Taro village after seeing very bright shine from one tree there. Then, here is built the Gunung Raung Temple which is belong to Dang Kahyangan temple since it related to a great Hindus teacher. The previuos name Sarwa Ada village then changed to Taro which derives from taru ‘tree’. The existence of Gunung Raung temple has a vital role for the community as the source of local wisdom between generations. The value of working hard for a better life as well as optimistic in every effort supported by solid relation between leader and member are taken from the Mahaguru teaches. Besides that, belief in God and trusted Taro is a blessed village, the merit would come from any sides as long as respecting the history of how life starts. The most sharing value of life is putting community need more than personal. The implementation of those wisdom can be seen in self cultivating land, loyal to community and religion, be an example by doing things, and open minded to get more feedback and more lesson from others in spite of praying to the Almighty God for his blessed to all.
