Abstract
Cultural conservation are aimed not only for to preserving norms or values but also as commodity. These issue would be the central topic since Bali categorized as international tourist destination, specifically cultural-based tourism. The problems covers cultural conservation for (a) preserving values and local wisdom and also (b) commodity which is bring additional income for local people. Data was taken by interviewing informants who familiar with the fenomena. The
research found out that in term of values conservation, it is a strong consciousness to follow the previous tradition which is done by the ancestors. It is a habit to copy it as the local identity to be proud of. So visitor are lucky to meet them all. The conservation showed tourists that Balinese people still adopting the similar norms and tradition as those who live before them. In the other hand,
tradition is conserved as commodity for getting financial support. This performance attracts visitor and make them wonders how life so unique in modern world. Tradition assigned to give experiences for visitor who taking part in. In brief, cultural conservation is held for both sides for keeping values as well as financial aspect. This regulation would run smoothly with Balinese after accommodating some considerations, including personal choise to be or take part
in gobal style since the pride and responsibility is on the people shoulders.
