Abstract
This study aims to determine employment opportunities in the
hospitality industry for female graduates of vocational hotel
schools (SMK) in Bali. Data was collected from the Human
Resources Department of hotels in Bali through the Google
form questionnaire. There were 60 return valid questionnaires.
Analysis of the questionnaires showed that 45% of SMK
graduates were accepted as daily workers; 28.30% of contract
workers; 18.30% permanent employees. Furthermore, for
work positions, there is 27.22% of them work in housekeeping
department, 21.30% in front office, 21.30% in food and beverage
production, 24.86% in food and beverage service, and 5.40% in
other departments including technicians and administrations.
For administrative positions, graduates are required to have
hotel operations administration skills such as hotel information
system. In fact their knowledge about it is still minimal.
This article argues that hotels are open themselves to accept
graduates of vocational schools including women, and to
become permanent employees, but they are required to have
adequate skills for those positions
